EXPLORING GENDERED LANGUAGE USE: MULTILINGUAL FEMALE ADOLESCENTS IN BANDUNG, INDONESIA

This study focuses on the language characteristics of multilingual female teenagers in Bandung, a city with diverse ethnic population. The research is based small sample 16-18 year old students from private high school and uses descriptive-analytic method to analyze recorded conversations as primary data interviews secondary data. categorizes analyzes variations teens' speech, using theories Lakoff (2017) Holmes (2022). results suggest that some, but not all, features proposed by are present speech. Additionally, identifies six functions used, including lexical hedges, tagging questions, empty adjectives, reinforcers, emphasis stress, rising intonation. Due participants' multilingualism, often involve mix Indonesian, local (Sundanese), English codes.
